Gibbie Galbraith is the barefoot, speechless son of a drunken baronet in a Scottish granite city, and he spends his days running errands and doing kindnesses. After he witnesses a murder he flees to the mountain of Glashgar, where the shepherd’s wife Janet Grant takes him in and teaches him to read the Bible. Much of the dialogue is in broad Scots.
MacDonald’s portrait of goodness without guile, a favourite with readers of his Christian fiction and fantasies. Download the free EPUB.
