Anne Silvester has been secretly compromised by Geoffrey Delamayn, a celebrated athlete who means to abandon her for a rich widow. When Geoffrey’s friend Arnold Brinkworth is sent to her at a Scottish inn, the loose marriage law of Scotland threatens to bind the wrong people for life. A prologue about an earlier Irish marriage sets the pattern of betrayal.
A sensation novel with a purpose, taking aim at the marriage laws of the day and the Victorian worship of muscle. Download the free EPUB.
