At Coombe Lorraine, under the South Downs near Steyning, an ancient family lives under an astrologer’s prophecy that seems to threaten its daughter Alice. While she faces the curse at home, her brother Hilary goes to fight in Wellington’s Peninsular War in Spain, and the two stories run side by side.
A long, lyrical Victorian romance of landscape and war by the author of Lorna Doone. Download the free EPUB.
