Busk works valley by valley from the Vorarlberg through the Lower Inn, the Zillerthal and the Wildschönau, giving routes and lodgings but lingering on what most interested her: the local legends, wayside shrines, pilgrimage chapels, festivals and peasant customs she gathered on her travels. She writes conscious that the coming of tourists would soon sweep much of it away.
