In a small canoe of his own design, with a double paddle and a sail, John MacGregor travelled alone along the Thames, Meuse, Rhine, Main, Danube, Moselle and Seine and across the lakes of Switzerland, carrying the boat over hills when the water ran out. His cheerful account of locks, inns and curious onlookers launched recreational canoeing.
A classic of adventurous travel that still inspires paddlers. Download the free EPUB.
