In the northern woods, the fur-bearing animals choose a king and set down the law of the boundaries, while Black Fox, Carcajou the wolverine, Pisew the lynx and Mooswa the moose watch a trapper called François and a boy build a shack and set their traps. Rivalry, cunning, a run of wolves and the animals’ protection of the boy fill a story told largely from the creatures’ side.
A Canadian animal epic in the vein of Kipling’s Jungle Book, with fine pictures by Arthur Heming. Download the free EPUB.
