Far from the anguish of his plays, Strindberg here tells gentle and ironic tales of Swedish life: a bedridden granny who sees the world through a rainbow-tinted window, a big gravel-sifter, a sluggard, a pilot’s troubles, a photographer who turns philosopher, and the song of a tree-swallow. Several read like fairy tales for grown-ups.
A surprising, tender side of Sweden’s great dramatist, for readers who know only Miss Julie. Download the free EPUB.
