Adam Jeffson joins an expedition racing for the North Pole and reaches it, then turns south to find that a purple vapour has rolled over the world and killed everyone in it. His story comes to us in shorthand notebooks passed to a doctor, recording years of wandering through empty cities, growing madness and the furious, solitary life of the last man alive.
An early classic of the last-man novel, overwrought and visionary in equal measure. Download the free EPUB.
