Finding a girl dying in a moonlit French forest, the grim Puritan Solomon Kane swears vengeance on the bandit Le Loup who murdered her. The pursuit lasts years and ends in the African jungle, among drums, a witch-doctor and something worse. First printed in Weird Tales in 1928, it shows the pulp racial attitudes of its time.
