Dot Burton, a tomboyish girl living with her elder brother Jack, swears she will shoot the outlaw Buckskin Bill if he comes her way, and the title story takes it from there. The longer pieces that follow, including the multi-chapter “Without Prejudice,” turn on mistaken marriages, buried romances and men whose hard exteriors hide something better.
Pure Ethel M. Dell: high emotion, strong-willed heroines and the brooding men who made her one of the most popular romancers of her day. Download the free EPUB.
