The story begins with three young men in an old inn near the border and a quarrel that becomes a legacy of hate. A generation later Paul begins his work as a Methodist preacher, and the old enmity, a love affair and a man who goes silent to his trial, refusing any defence, bring every character to a reckoning.
A strongly felt religious romance from a popular Cornish novelist, for readers who enjoy Victorian and Edwardian moral drama. Download the free EPUB.
