Pearl Watson, the irrepressible heroine of McClung’s earlier novels, is now a young schoolteacher in rural Manitoba. Life at the Watson farm, a doctor’s decision and a love story weave through her growing involvement in the fight for women’s suffrage, as she discovers the power of ink and of ridicule against a complacent provincial government.
Written by one of Canada’s leading suffragists, it draws on her own campaigns and is lively reading for anyone interested in women’s history. Download the free EPUB.
