In 1820 Abel Reddy farms his own land at Perry Hall End, on the edge of the parish of Castle Barfield, and from his Elizabethan house he can look across to another old house on another hill a mile away. Between the two households runs the story of a young couple whose love follows, in a homely English key, the pattern of Shakespeare’s lovers.
A short and gently humorous country tale, for readers who enjoy the provincial fiction of George Eliot and Thomas Hardy. Download the free EPUB.
