Troubled by a Lutheranism that defended right doctrine but neglected holy living, Arndt wrote a long devotional treatise on the image of God in man, the fall of Adam, renewal in Christ, true repentance, the nature of living faith and the daily life of the believer. This American edition opens with an account of the author’s life.
