A city man settles in a small New York parish and takes his seat in the pews, where he finds that church questions look very different from below the pulpit. Prayer meetings, revivals, Sunday school, parish quarrels and the doubts of an unconverted neighbour all come under his amused and sympathetic eye.
Grown from a series of letters in the Christian Union, it is a gentle comedy of American church life. Download the free EPUB.
