Richard Johnson, chaplain to the First Fleet, wrote this address to the settlers and especially the unhappy prisoners and convicts at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island, whom he found it hard to reach in person. In two parts he urges them to repentance, faith in Christ and an honest life, and warns against swearing, drunkenness and despair.
