A man and a girl appear out of the mists of time in 1945 New York to take vengeance on Dr. Turber, a prominent physician. His strange Indian assistant seems to belong to Peter Stuyvesant’s New Amsterdam, and the narrator is swept back to the Dutch colony and forward to the great city of 2445 as the mystery unfolds.
