In the Spacemen’s Club in Swamp City on Venus, the narrator is summoned to meet Grannie Annie, who writes lurid space fiction as Annabella C. Flowers. She has stumbled on a real plot more dangerous than any she has invented, and soon trained hunter-birds and a hidden villain are after them both.
