Anthony Trollope follows Palmerston from a junior lordship at the Admiralty and long years as Secretary at War through his terms as Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister. He tells the story of Don Pacifico and the ‘civis Romanus sum’ speech, the quarrels with the Court and the Crimean War, drawing on Ashley’s biography, Kinglake and the journals of the day.
A short political life by a great novelist who knew the world of Phineas Finn from the inside. Download the free EPUB.
