Arthur Palmer translates Bjørnson’s lyric poems into English, with an introduction on him as a lyric poet. Songs from his peasant tales Synnøve Solbakken and Arne sit beside verses from his plays, ballads, hymns and historical poems such as the landfall of Olaf Trygvason, returning to claim his kingdom.
A fine selection from the Nobel laureate who wrote Norway’s national anthem. Download the free EPUB.
