Leonard Charteris wants to break with the passionate Julia Craven and take up the cooler Grace Tranfield, but Julia will not go quietly. Their entanglement plays out among doctors, a pair of fathers and the members of the Ibsen Club, where women who behave like men and men who behave like women are the rule, in Shaw’s sharp send-up of advanced ideas about marriage.
One of Shaw’s early Plays Unpleasant, a witty comedy about how far modern ideals survive modern feelings. Download the free EPUB.
