When the Terrebonne plantation falls into debt after its owner’s death, his nephew George Peyton falls in love with Zoe, the owner’s daughter by an enslaved woman, only to learn that she can be sold with the estate. The villainous overseer M’Closky schemes to own both, and a camera’s photograph becomes the key to a murder.
