Albovine, king of the Lombards in conquered Italy, loves his queen Rosamund, but he once made her drink from a cup fashioned from her own father’s skull. In five acts of passionate blank verse, Swinburne dramatises the old legend of her vengeance and the young warrior she draws into it.
A late, compact verse tragedy by the most musical of the Victorian poets. Download the free EPUB.
