Jeppe, a henpecked, hard-drinking peasant, is found dead drunk on a dunghill by a baron who has him carried to the castle and dressed in fine clothes. Waking, he is convinced he is the lord of the manor, with consequences as farcical as they are pointed. The translation includes an introduction to Holberg.
