Three apprentice plays by the young Ibsen, translated into English here by Anders Orbeck. Catiline, written in 1849 while Ibsen was an apothecary’s assistant, makes a tragic hero of the Roman conspirator; The Warrior’s Barrow sets a Viking raider among Christian islanders; and Olaf Liljekrans is a romantic drama drawn from Norwegian ballad.
