Chantecler the rooster rules his farmyard in the conviction that his song summons the dawn. When a beautiful golden Pheasant-hen arrives and the night birds plot against him, his faith in himself is tested. The cast is entirely animal, from the cynical Blackbird and the dog Patou to peacocks, owls, toads and a nightingale, in a translation by Gertrude Hall.
A whimsical, philosophical play from the author of Cyrano de Bergerac, about pride, purpose and illusion. Download the free EPUB.
