The Hebrew scholar later famous for his edition of the Masoretic Bible gives a compact account of Jewish mysticism. He sets out the doctrines of the Kabbalah, traces its history and its claimed antiquity, and describes its literature, above all the Zohar attributed to Rabbi Simon ben Jochai, while noting its pull on Christian thinkers from Lully and Pico della Mirandola to Reuchlin.
A clear Victorian introduction for readers approaching Kabbalah for the first time. Download the free EPUB.
