Bentham sets the accounts of Paul’s conversion side by side, points out their discrepancies, and argues that Paul’s vision was a fiction and his mission an ambitious seizure of leadership that departed from the teaching of Jesus. Tables, cross-examination of Acts and the Epistles and a lawyer’s eye for evidence drive the case.
