A cotter’s boy in a Norwegian mountain valley loses his heart in childhood to Marit, granddaughter of a proud farmer, and grows up resolved to make himself worthy of her through school, hard study and a new aim in life. Two short tales of country life, The Eagle’s Nest and The Father, complete the volume.
One of Bjørnson’s early peasant tales, fresh and tender, for readers who enjoy Scandinavian country life. Download the free EPUB.
