A boy born to a struggling mother in Christiania, grows up neglected, apprenticed to a strict master and pushed to the margins of the Norwegian capital. His love for a young working girl and the cruelties of class and circumstance shape a story of suffering and wrong.
A powerful Norwegian naturalist novel by one of the four great Norwegian writers of the nineteenth century. Download the free EPUB.
