Theodore Wood explains to young readers how butterflies and moths begin as eggs, become caterpillars and chrysalises, and emerge as adults. He then introduces the common species of Britain one by one, from familiar garden butterflies to the currant clearwing and the hornet clearwing, keyed to Janet Harvey Kelman’s plates.
