Written for young readers, this survey moves from household pets, with breeds of dogs and anecdotes of their wit, and the fireside cat, to horses, donkeys and camels, cattle, sheep and poultry, and the bees and silkworms that serve the home. Customs from many lands appear along the way, including cockfighting in the Philippines.
