Samuel Hall Young was a young missionary at Fort Wrangell when John Muir arrived in 1879. He describes climbing a mountain with Muir and being rescued by him after a fall, their canoe voyage with native guides into Glacier Bay, and Muir’s delight in the ice, recalling his friend’s talk of wandering through a thousand rooms of God’s crystal temple.
A warm portrait of Muir in the wild that will delight lovers of nature writing and Alaskan adventure. Download the free EPUB.
