The ethnologist Daniel Brinton surveys the history, language and customs of the Lenape or Delaware people and prints the full text and pictographs of the Walam Olum, a migration chronicle first published by Constantine Rafinesque, with a new translation and an inquiry into its authenticity. Later scholarship has concluded that the Walam Olum was most likely fabricated by Rafinesque himself.
Valuable for its Delaware ethnology and as a chapter in a famous scholarly controversy. Download the free EPUB.
