Gavin Dishart arrives in the weaving town of Thrums as its new Auld Licht minister, small of stature and earnest beyond his years, with his devoted mother at his side. One night of riot and soldiers he meets Babbie, a wild girl dressed as an Egyptian who seems to belong to no one, and his congregation’s watchful eyes are soon upon them.
The novel that made Barrie famous years before Peter Pan, full of Scots humour and tenderness. Download the free EPUB.
