Count D’elmont returns from the wars to Paris and becomes the object of every woman’s passion. He marries the scheming Alovisa for ambition, toys with the innocent Amena, and then falls helplessly in love with his young ward Melliora, while letters, disguises and rivals multiply around him across three parts of intrigue in France and Italy.
One of the most popular English novels before Pamela, a landmark of early women’s fiction. Download the free EPUB.
