While Ma has run over to the Smiths’ to borrow thread, molasses and eggs, eleven-year-old Rebecca Sparks Peters sits Mrs. Miggs on the sofa and takes her through the family album, picture by picture. Her small-town chatter spills every family secret, from Ma as a little girl to Great-uncle Peter, who was awful well off and proud of it.
