A collection of the cheap comic booklets once hawked by chapmen to country people, gathered at a time when educated readers were discovering folklore. It includes The Comical History of the King and the Cobbler, merry tales and jests, and the story of a tinker who is carried into a great house and afterwards takes his entertainment there for a vision.
