John Blacman, a priest who had known Henry VI personally, set down this short tract on the king’s piety and character: his reverence for the Holy Cross, his modesty and chastity, his patience under misfortune and his care for his foundations. M. R. James, then Provost of Eton, reprints the rare Latin text with an English translation and notes.
An intimate portrait of a saintly, ill-fated king, valuable to anyone interested in the Wars of the Roses or medieval kingship. Download the free EPUB.
