Commander Statham sets aside the legal tangle of letters of marque and tells instead the true stories of men who went privateering. French corsairs such as Jean Bart, English cruises into the South Seas, and a long run of captures, chases and quarrels with prize courts fill chapters drawn from the modern authorities he lists at the outset.
Lively, well-sourced naval history for anyone drawn to the age of sail and its private wars. Download the free EPUB.
