Abbott wrote his Makers of History series for young Americans who wanted the leading events of the ancient world in plain narrative. This volume follows Alexander from his childhood under Philip and Aristotle through his accession, the campaigns against Persia and the march into the East, with the battles, sieges and moments of generosity that made his reputation.
Straightforward Victorian popular history, still a good first account of Alexander for readers young and old. Download the free EPUB.
