The opening volume of the Chronicles of America series sets the stage for American history with geography. The geographer Ellsworth Huntington describes the approaches to the continent, its form and great provinces, the garment of vegetation from tundra to tropics, and the Native peoples who adapted to it, with a strong emphasis on climate.
A readable survey from 1919; its climatic theories about health and energy are those of its era. Download the free EPUB.
