Abbott follows Franklin from his Boston boyhood and runaway arrival in Philadelphia through his first voyage to England, his rise as a tradesman, his turn to science, and his missions to London as the quarrel with the Crown deepened into war. Franklin’s own letters, including comic notes to his wife, are woven through the narrative.
A warm nineteenth-century life from Abbott’s Pioneers and Patriots series, well suited to younger readers. Download the free EPUB.
