In Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztecs, Montezuma rules amid prophecies that the fair god Quetzalcoatl will return. When the Spaniards under Cortés arrive, the city is divided, and the story follows the young warrior Guatamozin, the princess Tecuichpo and the nobles of Montezuma’s court as two civilisations collide.
Wallace’s first novel, written before Ben-Hur, a grand romance of the conquest seen largely through Aztec eyes. Download the free EPUB.
