Christina, the daughter of an Ulm craftsman, is carried off to the castle of the robber barons of Adlerstein in the Swabian mountains, a wild place of feuds, plunder and ignorance. Her faith and kindness change the young Freiherr and his household, against the background of Emperor Maximilian’s efforts to bring order to the German lands at the end of the fifteenth century.
One of Yonge’s finest historical novels, a quiet story of goodness transforming a violent world. Download the free EPUB.
