Alleyne Edricson leaves the cloisters of Beaulieu Abbey to see the world and falls in with Hordle John, a giant expelled novice, and Samkin Aylward, a veteran bowman. Together they join Sir Nigel Loring and his free company of archers, bound for the wars in Aquitaine during the Hundred Years’ War.
Conan Doyle thought this his finest work, and its comradeship and chivalry still carry the reader along. Download the free EPUB.
