Dean Farrar opens with Agrippina scheming to put her son on the throne and follows Nero’s reign through the murder of Britannicus, Seneca’s compromises, the attempted drowning of Agrippina and the court’s descent into cruelty. Against this he sets the small Christian community of Rome, regarded by its neighbours as a foreign superstition.
A richly researched Victorian novel of Nero’s Rome by the author of Eric, or Little by Little. Download the free EPUB.
