Around AD 710, as Ina of Wessex pushes his frontier west against Gerent, king of the West Welsh, the young Saxon Oswald finds his fortunes bound up with the exiled Owen of Cornwall. A marred feast at the king’s court, capture by bad hands, a perilous voyage and a landing on the Dyfed cliffs carry him deep into the British West.
