All Paris has an opinion of Madame Firmiani, and each version contradicts the last. When rumours suggest that his nephew Octave has ruined himself for her, the provincial Monsieur de Bourbonne comes to the capital to investigate, and ten minutes in her company change his mind about almost everything.
A short, graceful tale of honour and love from The Human Comedy, ideal as an introduction to Balzac. Download the free EPUB.
