Two neighbours, Mr. Wiseman and Mr. Attentive, talk over the life of a man just buried: a boy who lied and stole, an apprentice who cheated, a tradesman who married for money and defrauded his customers. Bunyan uses the dialogue to set out the sins of everyday commercial and family life in Restoration England and the Scripture that condemns them.
